James W. Guarnieri
James Guarnieri is the founding partner of the Tampa and Brandon based personal injury law firm Guarnieri, Martinez, & Odom. He has been practicing law in the state of Florida since 1980 and handles a variety of personal injury cases involving auto accidents, truck accidents, and defective product lawsuits. He also represents patients and consumers in litigation relating to defective medical devices.
Mr. Guarnieri has an extensive background in law, business, and science. He graduated from the University of Kansas with an Electrical Engineering Degree and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA). Mr. Guarnieri completed his legal studies at the University of Dayton School of Law, graduating with honors.
With his background in science, particularly engineering, James Guarnieri has the expertise to handle even the most complex personal injury cases caused by everything from dragline failures to saw defects. He also extends his expertise to defective medical device lawsuits, including much of the current heart defibrillator litigation.
James Guarnieri is a member of the following organizations: the American Trial Lawyers Association; the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers; the Hillsborough County Trial Lawyers; and the Tampa Bay Trial Lawyers Association. He lectures on a variety of legal topics statewide, including electrical injuries, premises liability, and the economics of trials.

Nick Martinez
Nick Martinez is the managing partner of the Tampa and Brandon based personal injury law firm Guarnieri, Martinez, & Odom. His areas of practice include medical malpractice, workers compensation, criminal law, and personal injury caused by negligence (notably auto accident, motorcycle accident, and truck accident cases).
Mr. Martinez graduated with a Finance Degree from the University of South Florida in 1980 and also received a medical degree from Spartan Health Sciences University in 1986. He earned his law degree from the Thomas M. Cooley School of Law in 1990.
Nick Martinez has been a partner with the Tampa and Brandon personal injury firm of Guarnieri, Martinez, & Odom since 1993. Prior to joining the firm, he worked with Bruce L. Shiner, P.A. and the Brandon Law Center.
Over the years, Nick Martinez has continued to sharpen his trial advocacy skills by defending clients in Federal Jury Trials, Circuit Court Jury Trials, Social Security Final Hearings, Social Security Appeals, Workers’ Compensation Final Hearings, Workers Compensation Appeals, Criminal Court, Bankruptcy Court, Traffic Court, County Court Trials, and Administrative Court Trials. Mr. Martinez is a Circuit Court Certified Mediator and is a member of the following organizations: the American Bar Association; the Florida Bar Association; the Southern Trial Lawyers Association; the American Trial Lawyers Association; the Florida Trial Lawyers Association; the Hillsborough County Bar Association; the College of Legal Medicine; and the Brandon Bar Association.
In order to better serve his community, Nick Martinez volunteers for the following community service organizations: Optimus Club of Tampa – board member; Jaycees; Francis House; YMCA of Tampa; Boys Club of America; Big Brothers Program; and Little League Baseball – where he is a volunteer coach.
R. Gene Odom
Gene Odom is a civil trial attorney currently practicing in the Tampa and Brandon offices of the personal injury and medical malpractice law firm Guarnieri, Martinez, & Odom. He litigates nearly all types of injury cases, including car accident cases, commercial truck accident cases, general negligence actions, defective products cases, and medical malpractice lawsuits.
Mr. Odom attended law school at Stetson University College of Law and graduated Cum Laude. While at Stetson, he mock tried more than 25 civil cases as a member of the Stetson Trial Team – the number one ranked trial team in the world. He also served as president of Stetson's student chapter of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and earned an award for distinguished achievement in the art and science of advocacy from the International Academy of Trial Lawyers .
Before completing his law degree, Mr. Odom received a Bachelor of Science Engineering Degree and a Graduate Certification in Biomedical Engineering from the University of South Florida. His graduate research focused specifically on auto accident reconstruction and its correlation to injury biomechanics. As an engineer, Mr. Odom offered expert witness services to the legal community, including accident reconstruction, bio mechanical analysis, and expert testimony in court. As an attorney with the Brandon personal injury law firm of Guarnieri, Martinez, & Odom, Mr. Odom uses his education and experience in engineering and biomechanics to further his litigation strategy in the areas of personal injury liability and damages.
Gene Odom is licensed to practice law in Florida and is an active member of several state and national professional legal associations, including: the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers – member, Board of Directors; the Association of Trial Lawyers of America – Florida state delegate; and the Tampa Bay Trial Lawyers Association – past member, Board of Directors. Mr. Odom also serves as an adjunct professor in biomedical engineering at the University of South Florida, where he teaches a class entitled “Legal Issues in Biomedical Engineering.” He is a frequent lecturer for various state and national trial lawyer seminars, addressing the topics of obstetric malpractice (birth injury) and the application of accident reconstruction and biomechanics to auto accident or defective product cases.
Mr. Odom is currently authoring a book entitled "Biomechanics on Trial," intended to assist lawyers understand the legal application of biomechanics. He is married and resides in the Tampa Bay area, where he takes advantage of the Florida lifestyle by going deep sea fishing and golfing.

James Guarnieri, Jr., is a civil trial attorney currently practicing in the personal injury law firm of Guarnieri, Martinez, & Odom. He litigates nearly all types of injury cases, including car accidents, commercial truck accident cases, general negligence actions, defective products cases, and wrongful death lawsuits.
Mr. Guarnieri attended University of Florida, where he studied computer engineering and philosophy, and then Stetson University College of Law, from which he graduated with honors. As a member of the Stetson Trial Team–the number one ranked trial team in the world—he mock tried dozens of cases including capital and wrongful death cases. He also served as president of Stetson's student chapter of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and initiated the first annual Judicial Independence Awards. Upon graduation, he received the Victor O. Wehle Award for Trial Advocacy, awarded by the school for outstanding performance in trial advocacy.
Mr. Guarnieri is licensed to practice law in Florida and is an active member of several state and national professional legal associations, including the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers, Association of Trial Lawyers of America, Brandon Bar Association, Hillsborough County Bar Association, and the Tampa Bay Trial Lawyers Association.
Mr. Guarnieri is married and resides in the Tampa Bay area, where he spends his time away from work with his wife and daughter.
